Introducing
the Needlework Topic Page . . .
All my friends are
geniuses . . .
With
just a little humility, one can keep company with genius.
Everyone knows a bit of something. The knowledge they share may be just
what you need at a particular point in your life. The trick is to shut-up
and pay attention!
When
I attended college, it seemed the world was too vast a universe.
Everyone understood it except me! My colleagues were math majors,
pre-med, engineering majors, financial wizards, or beauty
queens. It is amazing how much each of them knew about
their own world. If one threw out a question here and there and really listened, you would be presented with a
perfect solution, valued opinion, astute advice, or a very educated guess.
"Come
on, Meri, weren't some of those college friends just confused,
wandering souls -- goal-less airheads, ready to party on Monday
night?" Yes, many of them stumbled their way
through the halls of learning, making mistakes with dating, drugs,
drinking. Again, the trick is to shut-up and pay
attention. Not everyone has to be right all the time to have
gained a bit of wisdom. Often it is gained through mistakes,
failures and painful experience. True genius may be the one
who finally learns the lessons life is trying to teach.
So,
what is the point? What does this have to do with a topics
page?
When I
began writing online content, I was assigned a little corner of the web and expected to sit there --
happily. I reported to editors who were the assumed genius. The
reasoning was that one could not be an expert in more than one topic. Sound logical?
It didn't to me, either. The word expert scratches
across my mind like fingernails on a chalkboard. Though I
ran for a few years with the expert pack, each of us claiming to be
all-knowing in our designated expertise, I grew increasingly
uncomfortable as a know-it-all when I chatted with online friends -- the real
*experts*. They reminded me of my college friends, my
geniuses. I also became cornered into a little box, subject to
someone else's opinion. It was not comfortable!
My
world is still a vast universe. Each
person acquires knowledge through their unique
journey in life. We learn as we journey. We grow, acquiring
hints, tips, techniques.
We find solutions to problem facing our lives. We discover pockets of faith. Sometimes we even are
blessed with an original thought. The job and the joy of
genius is to pass through life's journey, applying what you have
learned and be ready to share it with other open minds.
As
more content is added to this site, my goal is to expand it into many different categories.
Because needlework has been a
passion of mine for several years, it is the topic I am adding
first. I have lots and lots of information to share about
needlework! As the needlework topic is maturely
developed, I plan to begin adding different topics.
I've
been fortunate to learn many things along life's journey because I've
been blessed . . .
.
. . all my friends are geniuses!
Enjoy!
Meri
